NewCity Inez is a strategic planning effort launched in October 2008. The local leadership of Inez and Martin County, Kentucky will work with the NewCities Institute to establish a process, identify projects, and create implentation strategies. The result will be improved communication between the leadership of the community and its citizens. The ultimate goal is to engage more citizens in the decision-making process of the community and improve the quality of life for all citizens.
NewCity Inez is funded through a grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission in Washington D.C. , the Kentucky Department for Local Government in Frankfort, Kentucky, and the Center for Rural Development in Somerset, Kentucky.
The NewCities Institute in Lexington, Kentucky will work with the community throughout the process to develop the vision with the community, facilitate the discusions, make recommendations to the community, and create accountability standards for implementation. The NewCities Institute adheres to the principles of openness and transparency. All meetings are open to the public, and documents related to the discussions and recommendations will be posted to this website as soon as possible following the meetings.
